Besides its value for botanist, florist,gardener, and fruit grower, it occupies a literary field of itsown, and has drawn to its ranks some of Californias bestwriters of prose and verse. The twelve numbers of thisvolume contain over Six Hundred Original Articles and Notes adapted to our climate, besides copious extracts from thebest exchanges, and also reviews of books, etc. We havedeveloped correspondents in New Zealand, Australia, andMexico, as also in many out of the way places on this Coast. We hope to do still better for the future.
