Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis). The giraffe is the tallest living land animal. Males can grow to a height between and metres and weigh up to 1,260 kilograms. Females are a little shorter and weigh less. The giraffe feeds on the twigs and leaves of trees and other plant foods. It defends itself by kicking out at its attacker.
