The Chichen Itza building called the Observatory because of its alignments for observing the moon, Venus, and significant stars. The Mayan Archaeological ruin site in North Central Yucatan shows two distinct architectural styles, both Central Mexico style attributed by Archaeologists to an incursion of Toltecs in the 10th century and a later Puuc style that is prevalent in northern Yucatan's Puuc Hills near Uxmal.
