Onegenerally used, is to place the electrolyzers in cascade series, that is to 20 306 HYDROMETALLURGY OF COPPER say, in which there is a slight difference in level between one electrolyzerand the one next to it, so that the electrolyte pumped into a tank abovethe highest electrolyzer is fed into it, and gradually flows through theentire series and finally issues from the lowest in the series and is againpumped back to the tank, or to the leaching vats. The rapidity of thecirculation is governed by the difference in level between any two tanksand the slant of the tank itself. If the tank has not sufficient slant, theelectrolyte will overflow if the circulation is at all
