Type locality: Cerro Colorado, near Tehuacan, Mexico. Distribution: Puebla and Oaxaca, Mexico. The plant is known as chichipe, or, according to Dr. C. A. Purpus, chichibe. Thefruit, which is sold in the Mexican markets, like many other Mexican cactus fruits, has adifferent name from the plant; it is called chichi tuna. Illustrations: Bull. Soc. Acclim.
