For our friends the Swallows much may be donein providing them with convenient shelves againstbeams and rafters in lofts, open sheds, and out-buildings, where these birds can obtain ingressand egress through an opening or window. Theseshelves or plain brackets, say, about 6 inches by 4|inches, may be placed in all sorts of positions on theinside timbers of an open roof, or against sheltered 50 NESTING BOXES, ETC. corners of walls under the eaves of a building, assuggested by the following sketch (Fig. 12).
