A large stack of harvested Elephant Grass (Miscanthus) standing around 20 feet high catches warm late afternoon sun near Holdenby in Northamptonshire, beside a new crop already over 6 feet high,illustrates the growing and harvesting cycle of the crop. The bales were harvested in March and it is now mid-September, just six months later. The crop is grown as a bio-fuel for burning in power stations.
