Skin disorder. The palm of an hand affected by a mild form of pompholyx. This is an acute form of eczema in which itchy blisters form over the palms and/or soles. The condition is also known as dyshydrotic eczema and often develops for no apparent reason. It is treated with an astringent which causes the skin to tighten and dry, or with corticosteroid drugs.
