At thePresidential election in 1848, when Martin VanBurenand Charles Francis Adams were the Free-Soil candi-dates for President and Vice-President, he was oneof the candidates for electors on the Free-Soil 1851, during the administration of Governor Bout-well, he was one of the Executive Council.
