At 12oclock, moving the artillery by hand, I formed the column on the Chatta-nooga road, where Colonel Stanley again assumed command. Such are the words of the gallant Stoughton, and no more modest orunassuming language was ever used in any report when we consider themagnitude of the work performed. Could any greater honor be conferredupon a regiment or brigade than to say it was the first Union force to enterChickamauga valley in rear of Chattanooga, and the last Union force toleave that bloody MONUMENT, THIRTEENTH MICHIGAN INFANTRY, VINEYARD FIELD.
