The Silver Burn tumbles out of the Silver Glen, in the Ochil Hills above Alva, Clackmananshire. The burn takes its name from the glen, which in turn gets its name from a rich seam of silver ore which was discovered here in the 18th century - the largest ever found in the British Isles.
