It is proposed, however, to give addedstability by curving the structure upstream, using aradius about equal to the length of the crest, which willbe 500 ft. During periods of extreme high water the dis-charge over the crest will be heavy. To lessen thedepth of this discharge and also to dissipate, in ameasure, the enormous energy of this waterfall, thus. North End Site of Proposea High Dam. Tlie Crestwill Reach to a Point about half-way betweentlie Railroad-traclc and the Road on which theDump-carts can be Seen. A Test-hole can beSeen in the Upper-right Side of the Picture, preventing vibration throughout the structure, it isproposed to construct aprons, each 100 ft. long, extend-ing from the ends of the dam downstream, which willact as continuations of the crest and carry part ofthe flow. The dam will have a total height of 140 ft. Itwill contain about 120,000 cubic yards of concrete andwill require almost two years to complete. Header and Pressure Pipes. Imbedded in the concrete walls of the tunnel, andextending into it from the outlet for a distance of 120ft., the header carries the flow from the tunnel and distributes it to the pipe lines. Starting with an in-side diameter of 16 ft. 9 in. and thickness of i in. itmakes a turn of 46°-3o just after leaving the tunnel, until it lies parallel to the contour of the mountain-side. It is
