Zulaikha, 80, is cared for by her daughter, as she inhales oxygen administered through a face mask in the emergency ward of an hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, February 3, 2020. Zulaikha was admitted four days ago. She is suffering from a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and needs a regular intake of administered oxygen through the day. Doctor M. Azim Samim explains how in winter the hospital sees an increase of patients being admitted with respiratory problems. “Unfortunately pollution is very bad in the city and the government does not have the capacity at the moment to address the problem”, he explains. © UNICEF/Afghanistan/Modola20
