Of the oldtown on the shore considerable indications group of foundations is on a headland calledAin el-Kanterah ; but the chief remains are S. ofthis, and extend for a mile or more, with many frag-ments of columns, slabs, and other architecturalfeatures. The site of the chapel erected by the cru-saders on the spot then reputed to be the site of thewidows house where Elijah dwelt, is probably nowmarked by a tomb and small khan dedicated to cl-.
