A Japanese teppo,late Edo period. Iron hakkaku barrel with lacquer additions and sawari(later?)from the Meiji period in the form of aoi and mitsutomoe mon,on top a sode rear sight and shogi front sight. The barrel inscribed "Chi Tetsu Kitae Ni Ju Maki Hari"(made of imported iron)and "Nishino Zenuemon Yoshimune Kayei 7 Year 1852". Brass lock with interior spring and iron cock. Black lacquered kashi wood stock,brass furniture,European ramrod. The barrel rubbed,the lacquer of the stock cracked.
