Pilgrims from Congo carry containers of holy water at the pilgrimage site Kibeho in Rwanda. In 1981 the "Virgin Mary", mother of Jesus, appeared for the first time to three young girls. This miracle was recognized by the Vatican Catholic Church in 2003. Since then, Kibeho is a popular pilgrimage site for Catholics, considered as the "Lourdes of Africa".
