It was so compHcated a piece of work that an ordi-nary moulder couldnot put it togetherand get a mouldfrom it; in conse-quence it had alwaysto be taken to thefoundry by the pat-tern maker. Thefoundry made alabor charge of $ this work, inaddition to the weightof the brass, for eachand every whistlecast. Having de-cided that some im-provement could bemade in this pattern,it was sent to theshop and remodeled and some slight improve-ments were made.
