Antique fireman's helmet Vajen Bader Smoke Helmet
Vajen Bader Smoke Helmet c. 1891 to 1900 The Vajen Helmet revolutionized firefighting in the late 19th c. Allowing firemen to carry their own oxygen supply and giving full protection to the men from smoke and falling debris. Made in Indiana the mask label lists patents from 1891 to 1900. It is the science fiction aspect of it that captures the imagination. The round eyes have mica for fireproof viewing and even condensation wipers.
