San Simeon Pier at William Randolf Hearst State Beach in San Simeon, California is not particularly long, but it is enjoyed by locals who seek to fish free. It also provides a great, breezy stroll on a sunny summer afternoon when you are driving up or down the California Coast on Highway 1. You will find the pier south of Hearst Castle on the Central Coast. The beach next to the pier is popular for surfers, kayakers, kids camps in the summer, picnics, and enjoyable diversions. The pier is accessed from the park above the beach. There's a kayak and body board concession opened during the summer season, so you try your hand at ocean sports. Ranking as the 25th longest pier in California for over the ocean piers, it is approx. 850 feet long. The current wooden pier was built around 1983. With a protected cove, the day use area is a fun spot to beach-comb and look for driftwood and seashells. You can easily spend some time enjoying the pleasant Central Coast weather. There are around 24-25 picnic sites, 150 parking spaces, barbecue grill stands, and public restrooms.
