ROYAL AIR FORCE FIGHTER COMMAND, 1939-1945. - Two Supermarine Spitfire Mark IIAs of No. 152 Squadron RAF, taking off at Coltishall, Norfolk, with 30-gallon long-range fuel tanks fitted under their port wings. The pilots are the Squadron's Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader J Darwen, and one of his flight commanders, Flight Lieutenant P F Illingworth. The fuel tanks were used to extend the Spitfire's range while the Squadron was involved in escorting bombers on anti-shipping strikes along the Brittany coast and North-west France Royal Air Force, Royal Air Force Regiment, Sqdn, 152
