An Indian gold-inlaid katar, circa 1800, Double-edged blade of wootz Damascus with reinforced point and a medial ridge on each side. A gold-inlaid floral cartouche on each side of the base. The typical iron hilt entirely covered in gold-inlaid floral decoration, with two reinforced cross bars. The velvet-covered wooden scabbard of later date. Length 42 cm.
