Shah Jahani mosque in the Babur Gardens Kabul


The delicate arches of a small marble mosque presides over the upper part of the Babur Gardens or Bagh-i-Babur on a hill looking over the southern part of Kabul Afghanistan. The mosque is called the Shah Jahani mosque for the Mogul emperor Shah Jahan who had the mosque built in 1638. The Babur Gardens or Bagh-i- Babur (Baghe Babur) were created in the 1500's by the founder of the Moghul dynasty Babur. Babur was buried in the gardens in 1540.
