SV Darmstadt 98 is a German football club in 1898 as FC Olympia Darmstadt. The club was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2015 after competing in the lower leagues for 333 years. The Luisenplatz is the central square of the city and the Langer Lui (Long Ludwig) stands in the centre of the square, This 33 meter column commemorates Ludwig 1, the first Grand Duke of Hesse.
