Procedure. — Place a small amount oflimewater in a flask and then suspend inthe flask over the limewater a bag of rich,moist soil. Stopper tightly and allow tostand for a week. Note the turbidity of thebmewater. Explain the results. Exercise IV.—Temperature and color. Materials. — Coal dust and calcium hy-drate. Thermometers. Procedure. — Divide a small plat ofsmooth, level soU into three one part untouched, cover one with athin coating of coal dust and the other witha coating of calcium hydrate.
