At the Onondaga County, ,fair, the originator won firstprize on his hybrid tomato, and sold the entire exhibit, " half bushel," at ten cents each. Mr. Scoville set out 3500 plants, from which he commenced picking July 18th, and to October 13th had picked 1100 bushels of ripe tomatoes, while there were yet more to follow. This new variety has been pronounced unequaled as a pickle sort, while it has also been greatly praised as an early- market variety; for slicing for table use, it is very much liked by all who have tested it. It originated with Mr. Nichols, an extensive grower for market, near Columbus, Ohio. The name, *' Medium Green," is descriptive of the size, it being longer than the White Spine, but not so long as the Long Green. The cucumbers are very thick through, considerably thicker than the White Spine, and are full at both ends. The skin is light green in color and very smooth. The cucumbers are handsome in appearance, and of fine quality for table use. The vines are vigorous in growth and very productive. The cucumbers are generally uni- form, both in size and shape.
