Operation Crossroads, 1946
Nuclear explosion from Operation Crossroads at Bikini Lagoon in July 1946. More than 90 vessels were assembled in the lagoon to study the effects of nuclear weapons on ships, equipment, and material. The radio active cloud can reach a maximum height of approximately 35,000 feet.
