Fishing boats tied up to a fishing platform, near Ujung Kulon National Park, West Java, Indonesia

These bamboo fishing platforms, called bagan, are anchored in the Java Sea near the Ujung Kulon Peninsula. At dusk a kerosene lamp on the platform is lit and lowered to water level, and the nets are lowered. The fish are attracted to the lights and captured in the nets. Boats, such as the ones seen here, then come by and collect the fish to taken them to market.
