Foss Mine at Duntanlich Aberfeldy, is a source of baryte for use in drilling muds to prevent blow outs in oil and gas exploration wells, the mine produces about 50000 tons of baryte per year from the precambrian Dalradian, Ben Eagach Schist Formation.
