Strychnine seed tissue. Light micrograph of a section through a seed of the strychnine plant (Strychnos nux vomica), showing the cellular bridges (plasmodesma, black lines) linking the cells (yellow). The cell nuclei are black. The plasmodesmata are the black lines traversing the cell walls and forming connections binding the cells together. Each plasmodesmata has a tube (desmotubule) that enables substances to pass from one cell to another. Magnification: x103 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
