A boy belonging to the Bishnoï caste is worshiping his guru, Jambhoji, inside his mausoleum ( India)
The Bishnoï believe in nature : they are considered as the environmentalists of the desert. To live in harmony with their environment ( the Thar desert), they follow a way of life as simple as possible. Most of them are farmers. Faithful to the 29 principles edicted by their guru Jambhoji ( a hindu saint who lived in the 15°- 16° century in Rajasthan and rejected caste discrimination), they are vegetarians, consume neither alcohol nor tobacco and protect the local fauna and flora. Because their guru has prohibited them to cut trees, they bury their dead instead of burning them as other hindus do. That's why Bishnoï have built a magnificent white marble mausoleum in the desert where their leader is liying and Bishnoï come on pilgrimage to worship him.
