The object of this form (see engra-ving, page 22), made of silver, wasfound lying beside the remains of thebody. It is about six inches long, andtwo in breadth, and weighs an is smooth, with three longitudinalridges, and four holes for rivets, proba-bly to attach it to the scabbard. Remains of the blade were found, butthey were mere iron rust; a portion ofwhich was in the corroded fragments ofthe copper Front and back view of a boss of the sword-belt. Three of these were found lying onthe forehead of the skull, and one ofcopper, thickly plated with silver. Theyare plain, with a circular depressionround the centre, and measure two anda quarter inches across. A bit of leatherremained between two of the bosses,preserved by the oxyde of copper.
