Nearing completion: The new Underground Railway offices, 1929. Headquarters of London Underground (55 Broadway) was described on its 1929 opening as 'the cathedral of modernity'. Designed by Charles Henry Holden (1875-1960) its exterior features sculptures by eminent artists including Henry Moore, Jacob Epstein and Eric Gill.
