The beautiful wife of Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus, a Roman nobleman of the sixth century , Lucretia was renowned for her virtue and loyalty. She was raped by Sextus Tarquinius, son of Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the tyrannical Etruscan king of Rome.
