The club picnic, which was held at Preister 's park, near Belleville, 111., was a great success in every way and tlie attendance numbered about 300. Much credit is due the trustees, Messrs. Weber, Guy and Young, j^nd their as- sistants, W. Ossick and Charles Young, for the way they performed their du- ties. Only a few came out in the morning, but every car after the noon hour brought out a large crowd of flo- rists and their families. A fine band of music played, to the young folks' delight, until nearly midnight. The day was warm and sultry and rain was looked for at any moment, but it held off until all were safely at home. At 3 o'clock a baH game was started between the retailers and wholesalers, which the trustees stopped after the third inning, when the score was 9 to 7 in favor of the wholesalers. The trustees then started the differ- ent games, which took place at the ball grounds, and the grand stand was filled with those not taking part in any of the contests; thus nearly everybody had a good view of all the games. The games were in charge of Herman Nie- haus, Frank Windier and Al. Gums, assisted by the trustees. The first event was a time walking match, open to Krowers onlv. This was won by B. H. Pierce; prize, a year's subscription to The Review; second, by Geo. Martsen, of Alton, 111., a pair of cuff buttons. Both prizes were ottered by T J BGDOkc. No. 2 was a voung ladles' race. Miss R.
