Multiple test stick dipped in urine, against a reference chart, showing glucose in the urine of a diabetic patient. A sample bottle containing urine is in the background. In diabetic patients, levels of glucose in the urine and blood are abnormally raised. This is a Multistix urine test. The colour of each pad is checked against the chart after a specific amount of time has elapsed. The pads are used to test for different substances in the urine including protein, blood, bilirubin, glucose and ketones. Other pads check the acidity (pH) of the urine and its specific gravity.
