Some of the walls were coveredwith pictures; and from time to time the priestsexplained them to Prince Montezuma. Surely a Prince must know the story of hisown people, the priests would say. There was one group of pictures that Monte-zuma liked very much. The group told of fourterrible plagues which once came upon theAztecs, and destroyed nearly all the people. The Prince studied these story pictures untilhe could repeat
