Working with owners, engineers and architects, managers ensure construction projects are delivered on-time and within budget.

The successful management of a large construction project that may be spread over a considerable area and many different work-sites is a complex and challenging task. The project manager’s job is to coordinate and supervise the construction process from the development stage through to final construction and completion, always ensuring that the project is finished on time and within budget. To assist, the project manager may enlist the professional skills and opinions of the client, construction manager, architect, planner, site engineers and maybe specialist consultants such as environmental and archaeological specialists. Project managers must be flexible and adaptable and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They should be decisive under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays. The ability to coordinate several major activities at once, while analysing and resolving specific problems, is an essential requirement. Leadership and communication skills are vital when motivating a diverse workforce.
