Outside the limits he can homestead onehundred and sixty acres, or pre-empt the same amount at acre. One great advantage -western Kansas has is, that none of theGovernment land is subject to private entry, and can only be gotby actual settlement. The crops in tliis county are principally wheat and corn, andare generally good; but this year they are almost a failure onaccount of the drought and heat.
