It is one of the finest of the race ; a really grand and beautiful aster, and one which should be grown in every collection. It is perfectly hardy, free flowering, growing 2\ ft., producing masses of large, rich purplish-blue flowers with orange-yellow centers. Hardy asters will thrive in the grass, or in any rough spot, and always bloom fully the first season planted. ASTILBE OR SPIR/EA. A. or Spirsea Japonica. 2 ft. June and July.
