Poly(A)-binding protein and RNA complex. Computer model showing the structure of a poly(A)-binding protein (PABP) molecule bound to the poly(A) tail of a polyadenylated mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) molecule. Polyadenylation is the addition of a poly(A) tail to an RNA molecule. PABP is an RNA-binding protein that binds to the poly(A) tail of mRNA and stimulates the activity of polyadenylate polymerase during protein synthesis.
