It is well, if possible, to have the patient underobservation some days before operation, in orderthat she may have a thorough physical examina-tion, and also that the functions of skin, kidneysand bowels may be stimulated to their properactivity, if they have, as is so often the case, beensluggish from improper habits of living. If the patient is in fair condition a daily warmbath, with a thorough cleansing of the skin withsoap and water, will be of advantage. On the dayof the operation particular care will have to betaken in the cleansing of the site of the process will be described later.
