For nearly forty years he has been aresident of this township and county and in thattime he has witnessed much of its developmentand progress. At the time of his first locationhere much of the country was under water, butthis difficulty has since been obviated almost en-tirely by the thorough sjstem of tile drainage,now so extensively practiced. Mr. Gould wasappointed by the County Court as one of theCommissioners of Union Drainage District No. 1,of Onarga and Ridgeland Townships.
