Downing Centre, Sydney. This court complex houses local courts, the District Court of New South Wales and the Downing Centre Library, a law library. This building was originally a department store, originally the Mark Foy store through much of the twentieth century before being taken over by Grace Brothers in 1980. The building was previously known as the City Piazza, Mark Foy Building, or Mark Foy's Emporium. Its heritage value includes the glazed terracotta tile facade. Architects: McCredie and Anderson (original 2-story store, opened 1908); Ross & Rowe (extension to six stories, 1927-30).
