A Bristow S-92 with its infra red camera search capability and 2 winches is a modern replacement for the aging RAF Sea King

The Bristows Search and Rescue operation will take over responsibility for helicopter rescue in north Wales on 1 July 2015, as the operations of C Flight 22 Squadron at RAF Valley cease. The aircraft will operate from a specially designed facility at Caernarfon airport. This image shows the helicopter hovering above a rocky outcrop with the winch operator preparing to lower a strop from one of the 2 winches. The aircraft carries an infra red camera in the white turret, which is capable of searching large areas for heat sources. There is a full night vision goggle capability for the pilots, and a very bright search light to illuminate incidents.
