If they had, inaddition to their present quaUties, thenose that is demanded in the Americanfoxhound, England would soon be shortof foxes, and fox-hunting would cease tobe the popular sport it now is. Well-bred foxhounds have always broughthigh prices in England. One of the mostremarkable sales took place at Hyde ParkCorner in 1842, when Mr. Osbaldestonspack was sold at auction. One hundredand twenty-seven hounds were sold for6511 guineas, or upward of £100 a ENGLISH FOXHOUND, EARLY XX CENTURY
