. With the Beduins, a narrative of journeys and adventures in unfrequented parts of Syria . d lunched under a large olivetree at the edge of the Arab burial-place to the northof Ramleh. At this place we left the Jerusalem road, and turningto the southward passed under a long line of olivetrees, and through the young corn which they had another delightful three hours in the saddle, and about sunset reached our camp on the brow ofa hill near a little village of mud-houses called ElMughar. We found the elders of the village seatedon the roofs of their houses in patient expectation ofour arrival, and a row of the younger ones arrangedopposite to our tents. A more delightful campingground could not have been chosen ; for from our tentswe had a lovely view over an extensive plain to thewestward, rich with the young crops. The night setin without a cloud in the sky ; there was no hus-bandry in Heaven, and the young moon and starsshone brightly. It was a delightful beginning to ourjourney, and we felt as happy as larks. We started very early the following day and saw the. \h Fountain near Taffa.
