Usually the basal part of branch M3 and M4 is lost up to the medial cross vein so that the cross vein appears to be the base of that branch. The lost basal part is, however, often indicated by a spur or in a few cases may be present as in Buprestis fasciata. (Fig. 2-1). Cubitus is always two branched, but these may be fused at the tip.
