Closed.—By raising the thumb-piece, so as to swing the breech-blockup into place. In so doing, the locking-brace is thrown forward by itsspring, into place under the breech-block, as soon as the latter is closed. Locked.—By the position of the locking-brace, the lower end of whichabuts upon the guard. Fired.—By a center-lock of the usual pattern. Extraction and ejection.—By a revolving extractor, pivoted near thebreech-block pin, and struck by the block in its descent. In opening theblock the locking-brace is forced against the trigger, and is held thereby the block; the hammer therefore, cannot be made to fall while thepiece is flOO
