Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr (1915–2007), pilot of the Enola Gay (the Hiroshima bomber) and US Air Force Brigadier General, signing a copy of his autobiography. The bombing of Hiroshima, with the Little Boy atom bomb, took place on 6 August 1945. Tibbets, who was a colonel at the time of the bombing, later published several biographical books about his experiences.
