Business continues dull and there are far more flowers arriving than can be profitably disposed of. It is usual to have an after-Easter glut, but it really seems to be more pronounced than usual. The American people have been urged to economize, and flowers and other articles, not necessities of life, have suffered as a consequence. After the first semi-hysterical outburst has spent itself, it is likely that conditions will gradually become more nearly normal. Eoses are arriving in great numbers and prices are low, many being cleared well below the $l-per-hundred mark. American Beauties sell poorly. Of the many hybrid teas the quality remains exceptional, but clearances are hard to make even at low prices. Carnations remain up to topnotch midwinter qual- ity, but prices have taken a decided slump. A few fancies make $3 to $4, but the general average is now $1 to $ per hundred.
